Ellen said what? and Milky Way: The BEST ice cream in the Queen City

Hey everyone!

This is the first post in my new series "Adventures in The Queen City" aka my hometown Regina, Saskatchewan. Yes that's right, I live in the province that Ellen DeGeneres has a bit of difficulty pronouncing, just a bit. See for yourself.

Anyways... Welcome to my new series, where I will be blogging+vlogging about my adventures in some of the greatest parts of my hometown. From Wascana park and the Legislative building, to the artsy Catherdral area, I will reveal many of the hidden gems of this beautiful city. I Diana Jensen will be your tour guide of Regina, offering an off the beaten bath perspective from a local.

So lets start talking ice cream shall we?

If you know anyone from Regina, then there is a 98% chance that they will have told you about the famous Milky Way. This small and modest ice cream shop is an essential summertime pit stop among Reginians. Driving by, there is always a line up of at least 10 people. Yet on evenings and weekends this extends far down the street and sometimes around the corner.

Celebrating their 60th anniversary this year, Milky way opened in 1956 and continues to serve delicious treats each and every year.

So what makes this place so special?

To start, they serve over

-40 flavours of hard ice cream (including no sugar added and lactose free).

-35 flavours of milkshakes

-18 types of sundaes

- 6 soft ice cream flavours + flavour of the day

- parfaits, banana splits, ice cream sandwiches, floats, slushies, smoothies

-ice cream cakes

Along with ice cream, they also sell

-hotdogs & smokies

-cheeseburgers & hamburgers

-Popcorn

-Milky way famous chili
